History of the SRC

Founded in 1943, the SRC is the second oldest regional Renaissance Conference in the United States.  An overview of the organization’s origins, development, and animating ideals can be found in “Fifty Years of Renaissance Studies in the Southeast: A History of the Southeastern Renaissance Conference” by John N. Wall (North Carolina State University).  This essay was published in Renaissance Papers 1993 and is reproduced here with the permission of the author and the SRC.
